Hi everyone,  I just joined after having the worse weekend ever suffering with mood swings and confusion.  I havent had a period for nearly three years.  I am hoping this weekend was the sign that things have got bad before they get better.  :beat:

Hi mommaberyl

 :welcomemm:

Sorry to hear about your mood swings. Do you mind my asking how old you are - as you have been without periods for three years? Usually at this point the hormones (specifically oestrogen) have got to their lowest level and will no longer be fluctuating - in contrast to what they were doing during peri-menopause - so perhaps surprising still to experience this. However I'm sure there are other factors which cause a change in mood too!

Do you have any other symptoms of menopause, and have you had blood tests to check everything generally eg re thyroid, and vitamin levels, blood sugar?

Depending on you diet also sometimes blood sugar changes can lead to mood changes/irritability - and this can be helped by cutting out or reducing refined sugars and carbs from your diet, and eating slow release foods little and often. Just a thought anyway.

Hello Mommaberyl and welcome to the forum.

I found that when I had been period free for three years my symptoms seemed to get worse. I was 54 and until then I had just about coped but then the awful 24/7 anxiety started and I asked for HRT. Obviously we are all different and who knows when I would have turned a corner but I was so worried that I faced more years of feeling dreadful.
I found the forum really useful for thinking about my options and I am now using Evorel Conti 50 mcg patches and doing so much better.

I hope you find a regime that works for you. Take care and keep us posted.
