Quality Control?
« on: October 29, 2015, 06:25:16 PM »

Dear all,

Do you ever wonder if the current batch/packet of HRT you are taking is working.
I had an issue with Elleste Solo 2mg last year - over about 4 weeks, all my symptoms just came back even though I was taking one every day. I had some 1mg tablets (same make) and took two a day and the symptoms went away again. I went to my GP to discuss. She prescribed Climaval 2mg which worked fine. So I wonder if I had a 'dodgy' packet of Elleste.

Last Christmas I swapped to Estradot 75 which I have been really happy with but I think the same is happening again - migraines, flushing, anxiety and aching joints - since the last time I renewed my prescription.

Has anyone else had simlar experiences? Many thanks for your replies.

Could be that your hormones were over-riding the Elleste?

So would that mean my hormone levels are still dropping so I should increase my HRT dose?

Your symptoms might be estradiol excess?  Cut a sliver off the patch and try that for 2 patches (1 wk) and see if it is better? I find that I can feel it in one week if I change my dose slightly. Won't hurt you and you can always go back up the next week.  Your estrogen levels won't drop too much that way.

Hi TabithaR

Whereabouts are you in menopause and how old are you?

You don''t mention a progestogen so wonder if you've had a hysterectomy or have a Mirena coil?

If you are peri-menopausal then your own hormones will still be fluctuating, which would account for the differences you are feeling with the different doses?
