Hrt and alcohol
« on: March 26, 2019, 03:03:53 PM »

Hi

Does anyone know if drinking alcohol affects the absorption of hrt? So, if you take progesterone at night after some drinks, will it make a difference?

Thanks

Hi perinowpost

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me why?
What sort of effect does it have?

Well ladies in general get to a certain age and become intolerant of alcohol  ::)

I can drink (I'm not a big drinker just a few lagers or a couple of glasses of wine never spirits), just not while I'm on the Utrogestan phase. It's as if the two things in my system don't make me feel good, maybe make me a bit sedated rather than happy and more likely to have a headache the next day. Hope this explains it x

I've been on utrogestan for 6 months and can tolerate a few wine and sodas and G&T's on a weekend..never during the week!   :)

Hi

Thanks for your replies . I should have explained more fully, the reason for my question.

I was away over the weekend, and had quite a few drinks in the evening, especially for me (I don't really drink much at all). I still remembered to take my utrogestan, but today I have been bleeding, which has freaked me out.

Two months ago I had a PMB. The gynae said it was probably hormonal, but it is important to go back and get referred if any further bleeding.

I have managed to get a good appointment for 8.30 tomorrow, so that I can get said referral.

I suppose I am grasping at straws that it could still be hormonal.  :'(

Thanks again
