Are you dusting off your tartan scarves ladies?
« on: September 25, 2015, 06:31:45 AM »

Why? Because the Bay City Rollers are going back on tour! Heaven help us. I couldn't stand them myself, though have been known to dance & even sing along to their music. What was I thinking?  ;D However, the  thought of late 50's/early 60's men standing up & singing Shang-a-lang has me running for cover.  ;D

Were any of you Rollers fans?

Ok, I have no shame.  I was a BIG rollers fan, they came to my home town and my Mum wouldnt let me go as she had heard of girls getting crushed to death at their concerts? I never forgave her for that.

Afraid I will be first in the queue if they come to a town near me, we have Les Mckeown touring with his own band here but it was Eric I loved the most.  DH has already said he will take me :)

We all have a cross to bare SadLynda.  ;D Seriously though, I hope you enjoy yourself. Nothing wrong with a bit of teenage nostalgia. I was just a teeny wee bit old when they hit the big time. I was into Marmalade in a big way though. My mum wouldn't let me go to see them either. My brother, who is 10 years older, liked them & even offered to take me, but mum said NO!

I remember getting a birthday card posted through the door, I was probably about 10 years old at the time.  It had a photo of them on the front and had all their signatures inside.  I was told that 'they' had just posted through the door, I went running after them but they had gone :'( ;D

Possibly because I'm Scottish I just hated the fact they sang in Scots. It was just awful. I sang in a lot of choirs for years and we were taught to sing " properly" .

They sang with the most awful accent I have read ever heard....it was a convoluted mixture of Glaswegian and a bit of Edinburgh.....truly shocking.

I was an Osmonds fan when I was younger. My dear old dad bought me and my best pal tickets to see them at the Appolo in Glasgow....best night ever, I think I was only 13. Oh and we got to go without parents.  ::)
