I have accidental damage cover so it seems to be okay.
I couldn't even move this if I wanted to. It's melted and sort of crusty
Just have to wait and see what they offer. They did ask how much the carpet had cost but it was a new carpet that had gone down just before we moved in five years ago so I haven't got a clue.

They should send somone round to look at it and they will be able to tell you what it cost approx.
You should get the cost of a carpet the same price as yours....
Usually they will give you the name of a carpet company to use, but you can use one of your own choice.......

The kind of carpet company that I need is one that will clear the room of furniture. My suite weighs a ton and hubby is just not fit enough these days to lift stuff like that as the sofa needs to go on its end to get it out the door. Hey ho I'm sure I can work something out

HB the shop where you get your carpet from should do ALL that. Just ask insurance assessers if replacement carpet includes fitting.......Ours did.....good luck.

Someone spilt something on my parent's 1 month old carpet in a very noticeable spot many years ago. They tried to clean it, then the insurance guy visited, noticed it, and suggested that they claim and they got a new carpet a few weeks later.

All the times I have had carpet fitted, the fitters expected the rooms cleared. A few years ago when I had a new living room carpet fitted, the carpet company did mention that there was another company that would come and empty a room and then refill it afterwards. That time I managed myself and don't know if that sort of help is still available or not. Could they work round your big settee HB if you moved the rest of the stuff out? Having just had to empty the living room to get painted I can feel your pain!

Any good removal company will empty and re-site your furniture, at a price. It's what they do

I have been looking around and there are a few carpet companies that will clear the furniture. I just know neither of us are able to move the settee. It's leather and heavy and we had fun getting it around a corner and into the room in the first place
. Then there is a sideboard and a big entertainment unit and a display cabinet. It's a big room.
We are being "inspected" on Wednesday afternoon.

Just been browsing new living room blinds. Might as well have a bit of a freshen up of the whole room. Hubbies face is now a picture. I think he can see the way my mind is working and it's not going to be cheap

........ that thought had crossed my mind. We have slatted blinds which also pull across if we want them open. In cream but there are other colours
