I have just bought a new settee. One of the things that never crossed my mind to check was the type of legs on it - I have carpet. It got delivered with wooden feet - and I cannot budge it an inch on the carpet. I am no wimp having just manhandled  my old one out the door for collection. So I am having to phone an upholsterer to come and put castors on it. Lesson learnt for the future and for any of you out there who are thinking of buying a new sofa (and live on their own!).

Ours weighs a ton too bramble, but I have hubby to help me shift it. Not sure many come with castors these days.

   casters will make a mark in the carpet though however, having tried feet under the legs those mark too 

Colour; leather/material; cushions?

I love my casters! The man has just been and fitted them and I can move the sofa. I am so happy!! (Dark red leather CLKD - the other sofa is gold material with red and blue in it so they both go nicely together). Off now to do some painting!

Did you know that you can buy plastic "cups" that go under the feet of furniture. "Cups" is a bad word because they are only shallow. They are made of very smooth slippery plastic and might reduce the friction between your settee feet and the carpet enough for you to be able to slide it. Try a specialist carpet shop or a hardware shop.

My mum used to have them. Didn't know you could still get them. My sofas have massive wooden feet.

I have 4 Bakerlite 'cups'.  They leave a mark still though.
