Roofers arrived bang on 8am accompanied by 2 joiners.
There are now 7 workers on the roof!
Haven't seen OH for a bit, have a sneaking suspicion he may be up there as well 

Update

Yes - he was on the roof chatting with joiner agreeing how the ends of the wood should be finished off.

There was a bit of a downer yesterday, the only reason the rot was discovered in the wood by the chimney was that OH went to look. The roofers had said all the timber was good and "if you're ok with ladders you can go and check" Don't think they expected anybody to go up and look The main thing is something is being done about it.

Things are progressing pretty well.

Insulation, Roof Felt and Battens all installed. Roofers have taken all debris away with them.

Next steps, chimney to be re rendered, lead work sorted out and slates put on.
Not certain when that's going to happen.

Just as well your hubby was brave enough to have a look Limpy. Hope they return soon to finish what they started.

It's sort of a double edged sword CG.
You want them to come back to get the work finished, but when they are here they are so intrusive. 

Strangely enough, the joiner was the quietest of the lot and really interesting as well.
Just can't tell

Glad it's going well.

You can never tell, I've had some interesting workmen over the years.....with very different interests.
The worse thing we ever told our decorators was that my son was a computing student. The amount of things he had to fix we should have asked for a discount

Happy days, well peace and quiet are here again for a couple of days. 
Well, till sometime next week (hopefully)

The builders appear to have reverted to type.
When leaving on Friday, the roofer said he would contact the renderer to see when he would be starting.
OH rang roofer later that day to see what was happening.
Roofer "Me, I wasn't going to ring him, I thought you were doing that"
OH has been trying to ring the builder doing the rendering, no answer.
It's all depressingly familiar.
Oh, and it's going to start raining on Thursday night.......

So, so frustrating when that happens. Can your OH contact builder by email maybe or pay him a visit?

We've texted the builder so when his phone gets back in mobile signal range he should get it.
Got a phone call from the roofers this morning, asking if the chimney had been done.
Er - No. They then say they won't be able to start today, fair enough, we head into town to do some bits and pieces. Get home and there're 3 roofers here!  They'd decided to come and prepare some slates anyway, apparently the builder wasn't answering their calls either.

Sounds typical to me  - they take on lots of small jobs so try to be everywhere and keep people happy but it don't work sometimes ………

OK - Latest.

Roofers are making a lot of noise, good thing really, can't hear their radio.

They are doing the lead work on the chimneys. Apparently judicious use of expanding foam means that this can be done before the rendering. Let joy be unconfined.

The one doing the rendering, "the builder", won't be here till Thursday.
OH is going a bit ape........

We had a minor outbreak of Roofers this afternoon.
They've done some slating.
Totally unexpected, we weren't expecting them till Thursday, along with the builder.
