How long for mammogram results
« on: May 31, 2015, 02:34:38 PM »

It's going to be three weeks on Tuesday.

I realise we have had a bank holiday but it does seem like a long time.

What is the average waiting time.....anyone know ?

Don't know what the average time is to wait.

But, the ladies I know who've been recalled after mammo to be rexamined, all said they were contacted quickly, i.e. within a week or two. Hopefully, the three weeks is a good sign.

Please try not to fret, easier said than done I know   ::)

I just want it over and done with. Of course the letter I got saying how long it took is in the bin  ::)
So I haven't got a clue whether it is late or not.

Thanks Limpy.

I've always been told that it is a three week wait but each time my result has come in within ten days.

Well hopefully they will arrive soon.

Patience is not one of my virtues I'm afraid    ::)

3 weeks down here but usually the result is back within 10-14 days.  However, there has been Bank Holiday and probably illness/holidays too since you had your X-ray ……..  ;)

What's the worst it could be?

I was called back after my first one and the letter arrived within 7 or 8 days  and on my birthday too  :(   Fortunately the repeat  one was ok.

At my last one nearly 3 years ago I was told I would hear within 3 weeks and knew that if there was anything wrong you hear soon and nearly collapsed with terror when a letter arrived after 5 days saying  - all was okay!!!-  They must have been working overtime.

Letters can sometimes go walkies in the post so after 3 weeks it would be justified to give them a ring to check.

I got a letter back quite quickly asking me to go for a follow up. I had to have a biopsy and wait a week. I got a call before I set off to the hospital to say all was well.  I would say if there was anything to worry about you would have heard by now. Give them a ring anyway, they understand how worrying it can be x

Mine was around the 3 week mark, but sure it would have been sooner if anything had been found. Due to long lists here a number of years ago, I was sent to a private hospital in Glasgow for my mammogram. They found something on first set & had to do again that day, given the all clear there & then, so sure you will be fine HB.

Results are in this morning and all is fine.

Now I feel silly for stressing about it all  ::)

Thanks everyone.
