My brother in law is a registered tortoise breeder and has been for years. His wife hates them. Despite being boring and not at people friendly they take a lot of looking after. They can't really be left as they need feeding, washing etc and out in the garden they are vulnerable to rats, foxes and cats. They haven't been on holiday for years(brother in law and wife that is ) due to the tortoises or at least that's his excuse anyway!!

I have given up on the idea. Just could not do it justice at all.

Now what else could I have as a pet.

Hubby thinks this is hilarious. My daughter is moving out again in Sept and he thinks I'm trying to fill a daughter sized gap to keep myself occupied. He may well be right.....but ....another pet is required.

If the time is right, HB, that's what they're there for.   What sort of pet would you like to get?

Well I seem to have had lots of things over the years ....hamsters, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs and have always had a dog.
Hubby says no birds unless we can have a cage at least three miles long, so I don't know.

It makes me sound about three but I would really like another pet, but one that my feisty Bichon won't eat or haras.

I know I'm looking for something that's going to take up my attention.

Might consider fish, but don't know if I'm that keen  ::)

Fish aren't easy either  ::)
Stick insects?  They don't a lot.  I found them fascinating.  Always counted them daily to see if more had hatched.

Chickens?

Thought about chickens and or ducks but the dog would terrify them.

She is an old girl but a noisy old girl  ;D

Oo not stick insects, they don't appeal at all.

Easy though  ;)

Ducks are messy.  Chickens are noisy  ::) and prone to fox attack.  Qualis are flighty.  African snails BREED  ;D.

Fish - great for relaxing.  But the tanks need a good filtration system which can be expensive, the glass gets green quite quickly.  Our pond fish are less troublesome.
