What dose HRT should I be taking for premature menopause.  1 or 2mg.

Have a read of the menus, top of screen about various HRT therapies.  It depends on where you are in your menstrual cycle etc., age, medical history as to what is likely to be prescribed.

If its early then you should be prescribed in part to protect your bones.

The 2mg estrogen options are those licensed at the moment to cover bone protection / osteoporosis issues.
Anything less and you may risk not getting enough protection.

Your doc might not prescribe on this basis alone so make sure you have a list of your other symptoms to cover you.

Recent post from ladies on 1mg option still had issues with lowered bone density.
But remember there is a diet and vitamin component to bone health.
Plenty of milk, sunlight (vit d) or alternatives are the order of the day. Without those the HRT can only do so much.

Hi trac896

I agree with peegeetip

If your menopause is premature (defined as your last period occurring before the age of 40) then you need to take as high an oestrogen dose you can, firstly to feel good, and secondly to protect heart, bones etc - and your general health through into old age.

The only issue could be with the progestogen component which give some women side effects. This being the case I would suggest Femoston 2/10 which has a progestogen most similar to our own progesterone (of the synthetic ones).

How far are you into menopause now?
