heartrate monitors\activity monitors
« on: March 11, 2015, 12:15:35 PM »

I've been looking at these monitors for a while now and cannot decide which to buy so wondered if any of you ladies have one and could me choose?

Its the calories burnt function is my main priority as I'm on a diet......again ::). These devices do alsorts though, some are for running (which I don't do), some are for the gym (which I don't go),  however I walk briskley loads and I'm going to take up badminton and aerobics of some sort when mybroken leg is healed.

I've been looking at the polar ones as they seem to use them on the biggest loser which I'm addicted to.

Do any of you ladies have one or could recommend one?  They can be expensive so want to make sure I choose the right one.

I don't really know much about them, my husband went on a health kick started last year, lost 3 stone, have up smoking, gym, runs (Forrest Gump dosent have a look in) he uses Nike fuel band and an App on his phone which tracks everything weight lose, nutrition, heart rate, sleep. I think there is loads of different ones. One of the ladies on here mentioned one she was using not that long ago, hopefully she will read this x

Is it necessary?  I would go to my Practice Nurse/Pharmacist for a BP check and get my heart rate listened to then step out!  When I had a dog I walked 2-3 miles daily …….. and at weekends and holidays a lot more.  [Her birthday is 2-morrow (1988)].  Cycling is good exercise but I don't enjoy it much, not very steady these days so can't sail along enjoying the scenery  ::) and all that phaff with helmets, gloves, goggles ………  ;D

Having a regular time is probably important.  Then having the impulse to actually get out the door  ???

Don't forget Girls that housework is Good Exercise!

They seem to cost a lot.

My problem with that kind of thing is after the initial interest they end up in a drawer and then I wonder why I bothered. My cupboards are full of things I thought I really needed.

There are some good apps for weight loss that you could maybe try.
