Dosages ? How much of what?

In various posts I've seen people refer to upping their dosage of various hormones. How do you know what dose you should be taking of each hormone? Is this simply age related or does it depend on the individual? I suspect more of the latter, in which case, does the doctor need to have all your own hormones measured before commencing any treatment?
Thanks,
GG x

Hi
When we say upping our dose it is usually the oestrogen, I'm 44 was on Femoston 1/10 for 10 months but lack of bleeds after each pack and few sweats reappearing. I am now on 2/10 which is higher oestrogen only, same amount of progesterone. GP don't measure levels again just go by symptons. As I am still younger we usually need higher dose of oestrogen to keep things right. As we get older that can be reduced and finally when no periods for 12 months you can go in lower prog for whole month.
EG in Femoston 1 is the oestrogen taken all month 10 is the prog / oestrogen taken for 2 weeks.
Later when I have no bleed or over 54 I can move to 1/5 which is both all month.
Hope that made sense. In fact I hope that's right

Georgiegirl unfortunately there really isn't a hard and fast rule ,if only !
A lot is just trial and error and what suits one doesn't suit the other ! However a specialist or gynecologist should have the right ball park idea on what place to start with by listening to your specific symptoms and history. Try to keep a daily record with all the things you experience and it will help them greatly suggest the right course of action for you .

My dose of Utrogestan was halved because the higher dose was making me ill. I had to fight for it though but the doctor accepted it when I just felt better (and stopped bleeding) on the 100, rather than the 200mg.
My oestrogen dose was upped as the Evorel 50 was no longer giving me enough oestrogen - based on my symptoms.
