I've used cucumber cleansing wipes for as long as I can remember. Found soap & water was too drying.  I've bought some facial serums which I put on when I remember. Makes my skin feel so smooth. Make up seldom worn. Hubby prefers my natural look, but when I go out I make an effort.

Since I was 18, I've used Weleda products and they have just brought out a new moisturiser - Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Day Cream.  I've just started using it and it doesn't leave my skin feeling all gunky.  In fact, it feels lovely and fresh when I put it on and is definitely improving the look of my skin.

Just to add - I like to use a dampened cotton wool pad with my cleanser, so that although I'm not using soap and water, my face still feels washed.

Thank you Dulciana - I am just this minute looking at Weleda website, years ago I used some lovely rose oil capsules someone gave me and thought to look them up again. I might give some products a try.

There is probably not a simple answer to this.....but I'll ask it anyway.  My skin changes co-incided with perimenopause for me, they were the first symptom.  I have never had hot flashes, just warm skin and this sensation on my face that it is irritated - it has this 'greasy' film, it doesn't appear dry really.  It's definately like teenage hormonal skin.

Do you think this is a low estrogen or high estrogen thing - in terms of the ups and downs?  The rest of my skin is overall a bit drier but that changes as well.  I really don't like the feeling of my skin anymore, it feels 'swollen' when it's not happy ........really annoying warm face :(

Yes, but it doesn't feel like that with lots of cleansing creams.  That's why I use a dampened cotton wool pad with mine.

Anything that leaves your skin feeling tight is stripping the natural oils and will cause wrinkles.

Your skin should feel hydrated and smooth after cleansing. If you have a greasy T zone then treat that part alone with an istringant (sp) toner.

After that a good light weight moisturiser every night....a good night cream should not clog your pores.
Skin changes at meno/middle age. It's a case of finding what suits.
It's the same with makeup....skin tones change. It's worth choosing a make you like and going to a larger department store and getting a colour match. Saves money in the long run because then you don't buy stuff that is just wrong.
I'm thinking of trying the Bare Minerals foundation....it's seemingly very good.

Oh and a few good makeup brushes if looked after last for years and make a huge difference to how your makeup goes on and looks.

Mascara and lip sticks should be thrown out after 3 months  ;) and water only will tighten the skin but not for very long.  Healthy toning  ;)

You need a little bit of moisturiser though.....keeps the wrinkles at bay.

My mascara never lasts that long....I have a thief in my house  ;D

As a teen I had to use an astringent between my forehead and nose …….. and across the dimple in my chin.  Clearasil …….. all the range when I was a teen  ::)
