blood results
« on: February 17, 2015, 04:45:39 PM »

Hi can anyone help with my blood results please. I have just got a copy of them from my GP.

They were taken on day 25 of a 44 day cycle so I dont know if I'd ovulated or not or if they suggest perimenopause even. I  feel symptomatic for perimenopause and my periods are closer together

fsh 12.8
lh 11.1
Oestradiol 677

Thanks x

No idea, but I think certain hormones are best tested on days 3-5 of your cycle, so your results may not give an accurate picture of what's going on.

Blood tests are notoriously unreliable.  I am certainly not an expert but those readings look quite normal, however, done on a different day they might show peri meno.  Most specialists go on symptoms not blood tests.
Periods coming closer together can be a sign of peri meno but you may be in a very early stage.
In my laymen's terms; usually a high FSH (above 25) is the indication of the start of meno - so you can have quite a good level of oestrogen but if your FSH is high it could indicate you are menopausal.
Hope that makes sense and if anyone else who is more knowledgeable can explain better please help out. DG x

I am no expert but my nephew is a bio medical chemist working in hospital lab and he told me that these type of tests between age 45_55 are not indicative of much as DG says hormones fluctuate too much throughout the month. After extensively bending nephews ear on meno he says he would need bloods done every day x 30 to make an informed diagnosis, that's why it's better to keep and take a diary with you and symptoms that's what I did.Write it all down, how you felt, when you felt etc. Hope you get sorted out x
