headaches.
« on: February 03, 2015, 11:57:17 AM »

I don't generally suffer from headaches, although I do sometimes suffer from sinus pain, and I had to come off the mini pill because I had a few instances of migraine with aura (but no headache - just aura, and once vomiting).

Last night, I was fine until I went to bed and then had a sudden onset, quite severe headache with nausea - mostly right sided, I think. I took a couple of paracetamol and went to sleep, and woke up some time later without the headache but still feeling like I might be sick.

Looking back to the last time I had anything similar (in August, visual disturbance and nausea but no real headache), it was exactly the same point in my cycle - day 10/11, which is around the time I generally ovulate.

Is there a connection?

I would think so but what the cause might be baffles me.  I think it is something which should be mentioned to your GP/Practice Nurse or a Pharmacist.

Hi honorsmum,

I once had a friend who had severe migraines around the time of ovulation. It's a very long time ago now, but I've a feeling her GP put her on the Pill to prevent the migraines, which was rather ironic as her husband had had the snip.

I was on Miscrogynon but told to come off because of the aura stuff.
I went on to Cerazette (progesterone only), but didn't like it - it really affected my mood.

It only seems to happen very occasionally, so maybe it's a combination of factors?
I'll ask at my specialist appointment next month, thanks.

I had horrible headaches for days as a time through my peri stage and have had tension/sinus headaches often fro many years and they do make me feel nauseous.
I often think lack of sleep made things worse as well and since going back on HRt I've had far fewer headaches.  DG x
