Hi Kittyjay - strictly speaking your HRT regime is not conti - it's someway in between - since you do have a break from progesterone for 3 days which should give a bleed if you are not post-menopausal. The only difficulty could be getting bleeding at the "wrong" time. I can see this is useful in peri-menopause when periods are very regular and missed ovulation can mean the lining over-thickening, and irregular heavy bleeds. As your doctor says it keeps the lining thinner for longer - and especially if you can tolerate the progesterone with few adverse side effects.

A high FSH value does not necessarily mean you are post-menopause - according to the information on this site - so you may well still be in peri-menopaus: "A normal level does not exclude early menopausal transition and a raised level does not exclude continuing ovarian function".
http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/diagnose.php. As you rightly say you could not be considered post-menopause until your periods had stopped for 12 months.
