Am I going mad? Newbie help!!!!
« on: December 28, 2014, 02:58:49 PM »

Hi, I am new to the forum and am hoping to find some answers to the question which is going around in my head.... "Am I going mad?..."
I'm 44 and have suffered with mild symptoms of irregular periods, ovarian cysts, insomnia and anxiety with palpitations for the last year or so.  Of late my anxiety seems to be getting worse, often waking in the night with my heart racing and generally feeling too hot.
I've decided to take control and change my diet, increase my exercise levels and seek reassurance by talking about how I'm feeling with like minded people such as yourselves.
So am I going mad or does this all sound familiar?
Thank you

Hi there & no you're quite sane!  :) This meno stuff is horrid. Affects everyone in different ways. Hate it when I waken with those darned palpitations. I don't get it often, but not nice. It's like fight or flight, except you've been sound asleep. Guess it's body's way of reacting to something not being quite right.

:welcomemm:  you sound 'within normal limits' from where I'm sitting  ;)

Anxiety can be a warning of a hot flush or the body temperature altering ……. particularly in the early hours.  Happens to me if I need to pee but haven't woken too.  Browse the menus, left of screen.  You are in Good Company!

Hi

the worse thing for me has been anxiety. I just didn't realise that would be a symptom. But it is manageable. Give the HRT time and consider an anti anxiety drug. Citilipran )wrong spelling) has helped me and a lot of women I know. My heart goes out to you. I have had a tough old year - bereavement, separation and now the menopause. But you will get through it. Go back to your GP and just keep on until you get the balance right. It takes time. Also go to a specialist in the menopause. You are worth it.

Hello Anita70 and welcome to the forum.

No, it's not madness, just menopause, but sometimes it is hard to tell the difference lol.

Take care and keep posting.

Welcome Anita

Rest assured that you are not going mad.  All of us women who come here are in the same boat. The symptoms are the result of the ovaries reducing supply of hormones, the trick is to find what works to try to get symptoms under control.  Please read and visit the site for support.  Many of us are struggling to find the answers.  The anxiety issue is one that many are struggling with.  What we many need is better advice from professionals!  Try to stay strong.  Let's all hope for some solutions in 2015.
