hi

i am currently living in spain and have gone on to Activelle hrt, i was happily on femeston for a few years prior to this but they don't have it in spain. i have been on actively now for about 6 weeks and have suddenly developed acne, i don't know if it could be a side affect or how soon side affects normally happen, can anyone help?

Hi zelda. It's such a nuisance when you have to change the type of HRT. The patient info leaflet does give acne as one of the less common side effects http://www.medicines.ie/medicine/14523/XPIL/Activelle.  The progesterone in Activelle is norethisterone, whereas I believe that Femoston contains dydrogesterone. It could be the change in progesterone which is the problem. It may be worth trying to research which HRT's are available in Spain with the same progesterone as Femoston?
