I think if you do a forum search you will be able to read about it.
There are alternatives though such as Vagifem.

Hi, Gynest cream has recently been discontinued (I had to have Ovestin last month), but my local pharmacy confirms that a generic replacement is now available - I hope this helps!

changes can be scary, even when we want them

Yep. WHY don't GPs give their patients fair warning
it's hard enough getting an appt. without having to go when a simple phone call to say the product has altered would suffice

oh that's a shame. I have this on repeat for external use. Generics are never as good as they usually use cheap fillers :-(
I will have to make my remaining half a tube last as long as possible.

Whaaaaat? Not another vaginal product discontinued - this is ridiculous!
As janm says Ovestin is much much stronger so it is less suitable for just rubbing in on external areas as Gynest is. I must get some more quickly too!
I just don't know why all this is happening - surely the decision should be taken with patients in mind but sadly big pharma rules and it is probably a commercial decision as with Orthogynest pessaries.

rang my pharmacy today thinking I could get a tube quickly only to be told it is no longer available but a generic oestriol cream has replaced it so that is what I will get in future. Hope it doesn't irritate

I do not use this product but this is yet more lack of choice for women. A cream such as this seems a good choice for many women as they encounter problems. It is getting me so mad that products to help are being discontinued like this. What are we going back to? All this is since the studies that made the headlines in 2002, we seem to be being let down.
