Hrt and thyroxine
« on: November 12, 2014, 02:31:53 PM »

Hi everyone.

I have been on thyroxine for 4 years now with no change also menopausal diagnosed at the same time, been on different hrts combined patches no bleed ones, still no relief from anything, at the moment I am on Merina coil for progesterone, eastrogen gel and testogel, 50 mg thyroxine daily and feel like death, my temp is 35.6, mid afternoon, my hands are that cold I can't even touch my face,  but I am burning up and flushed, no libido.
I have heard that thyroxine needs to be increased to a higher dose, can anyone shed any light on this please, feel so sick.  :'(

On these medications, you should be having at the very least an annual review plus an annual Thyroid Function Test to check that you are well and on the right dose of everything.

My suggestion is to go back to your doctor and explain how bad you are feeling and ask for a thyroid tests and review of the HRT to see what is going on and to go from there.

Good luck. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Thanks for the reply, I have just phoned the gyni hospital and have to stop the esatrogel immediately,it seems to have caused me problems, quite bad ones. Possibly eastrogen sensitive and not enough thyroxine.

Maybe - that's why I think it very important that you get tested. Good luck!
