However - now that my VA is sorted I can use everything in the bath except those cube thingies or bath 'bombs'.

I am going to try these :-

For arthritis, rheumatism, and other inflammatory conditions,
chamomile
marjoram,
birch
ginger.... in a massage oil.

These same oils can also be 'added' to a pain-relieving bath. May also try Epsom salts as a hand soak for painful fingers..

Will try a teaspoon of each oil in the bath, never used oils before, so may have to ask assistants in H&B if that sounds okay..Will let you know ladies if they work..

A big thank you for all replies..xxxx

Rosebush

Possibly a teaspoon of each is a bit much, essential oils are supposed to be measured in drops not teaspoons.

Where is silverlady when we need her?  My advice would be to ask her, she is good at complementart therapy stuff

A few drop only of each oil well diluted Rosebush, I have one already made up from my health shop, from Atlantic Aromatics ( it can get very expensive buying the individual oils all at one)

The main thing is to make sure the oils are well diluted or they will stay on the water surface.

The assistants in small independant health shops are very knowledgeable (we have an excellent one), not so much in H&B but it does vary, so do get advice Rosebush.

They sell books on Aromatheraphy, or they can be found in the Library.

Physio used to suggest hot/cold water treatment.  Place hands in cooled water and wriggle fingers, then into a bowl of hot water, wriggle fingers - several times a day.  Hand cream gently massaged into hands and feet can ease symptoms, lanolin was recommended but I understand people can be allergic to this.

Warmed olive oil can help ………. gently massaged into joints.

Update..

Was told by assistant in H&B to try
2drops peppermint
4drops lavender
small amount of oil..

Mix all together on spoon hold under warm running bath tap until spoon is clean, then swish water in bath for a few sec's..then fill up bath as required..did this for 5nights, then have had 2-3 soaks per week since, and this has really helped  :) also for finger pain was advised..

Rock salt added to warm water, soak for 5-10mins, rinse off well under warm water, dry hands, then massage hands gently with warm olive oil, best done at bedtime, if possible wear cotton gloves ( didn't have any) this also has helped.. :)

Still using both remedies..pain still there, but nothing like it was, i can bend easier now, even painted my toe nails last week! and i can type now for at least 20mins, before I start to feel pain in fingers and have to stop..before had pain in less than 3mins.. x All i need now is for night sweats to stop after 15yrs so i can get some sleep!! xx

One should not use lavender oils if pregnant  :-\  ::) ….

Grandma swore by Epsom salts ……… table salt for wounds.

Radox is nice too …...
