citalopram and alcohol
«

Hi Ladies,
Am about to start on citalopram, and, although I know it's advised not to drink whilst on any medication, I am just wondering if a wee glass of wine or two would have any adverse effects whilst taking these tablets. So look forward to a vino in the evening with my meal, especially at weekends. What is folks experiences? Thanking you!

HL, I am on citalopram for about a year now and do enjoy a glass of wine with the evening meals. This is more or less my limit anyway. I hope the med will work for you!

After 3 months whilst the AD kicks in you will have forgotten about alcohol
. Let the AD do what it is designed to do! You can have a drink once you feel better.

How does citalopram make you forget about alcohol CLKD?
I have friends on anti depressants who still drink. The only thing they have found is that the alcohol has a bit more of an effect. Don't forget though that alcohol is a depressant and can lead to low mood when it wears off which might be working against the good effects of the anti depressant.

Thanks Ladies,
I will start my tablets next week, and try a wine whilst at home, so that if I do suddenly 'conk out', at least my bed is at hand!!! Think I'm sounding a bit like I'm an alcoholic!!!

Get into bed first
I don't drink. So it doesn't affect my AD
