Abnormal bleeding on hrt
« on: July 18, 2014, 05:04:16 PM »

Hi I am looking for a little bit of advice, I have been on everol sequi patches for just over 3 yrs, for the past few months I have had irregular bleeding sometimes lasting up to three weeks. Before I started hrt, I had been having irregular periods and hot flushes and night sweats, but my periods hadn't stopped completely.
Anyway I was referred to a gynaecologist today and he had a little look with a ultra sound camera and has said I have thickening of the wall of the womb, and I need to go for a d & c I have asked to have an epidural as I have had a bad experience with general anisthetic. He told me best to stop the hrt, so I have, but I go on holiday tomorrow and I am dreading these sweats again. What can I buy that might work over the counter ? And has anyone out there had this problem any advice most grateful. Thank you :'(

Oh this is probably too late unless you are connected to the Forum whilst on holiday!

Have a read of the menus, left of screen.  It may be that your 'normal' hormones are over-riding the HRT but break-through bleeding should always be investigated.

Let us know how you get on!

Hi, yes sorry I went on holiday, day after. I am going into hospital for investigative surgery on 27th aug so I should find out what's going on, hopefully nothing sinister. Since stopping the hrt I haven't bled at all. I think hrt is a mine field and I don't think the everyday GP knows enough about it, as it's changing all the time. There should be a doctor in every surgery that specialises in womans problems.
