Journalists' strike called off so coverage should be good!

WOW!  :clapping:  what a wonderful programme from Edinburgh Castle last night  :-* ………. I knew most of the acts apart from the rap lads and the man on the joanna at the end.  Well worth sitting up for!

Horrendous outfits, if I was an athlete I would refuse to wear it.

Think that Mr Patriotic Salmond should wear one for the duration of the games. What a sight that would be!!!

I'd enjoy that! Also could they make it in swimming speedos just for him, so he could do a length or 2 of the pool in solidarity with the (excellent) Scottish swimmers  ;D

What was with Ronnie Corbett. I don't think he had much of a clue where he was or what he was supposed to do.
He stood on a dress at the end and ripped it. Such a shame but he is just not with it these days.

The castle would have looked stunning if it could have been seen through the mist  ;D It was quite funny. Concert was good. Smokey Robinson looked scary. So much plastic surgery has given him a bit of a wind tunnel look.

After blasting it ....it was really quite good.

;D  It is often the way that comedians etc., without a script to follow, can't keep up!  They are so programmed to follow direction that when given free rein  ::) but Alex was very good at keeping the Show going as well as helping RC on and off the stage.

It looked ethereal particularly when the soprano from S Africa sang Oh my Beloved Father  :'(  :) …….. bet the rest of the City enjoyed the fireworks!

My two are off to Edinburgh this week for a couple of days. They love it.
If you have never been CLKD it's sox worth the drive.....It's something else.

We went to the Tattoo years ago which was so good and also the fringe.

Many years before hubby came along Murrayfield was the place for me.

Happy days......and the most beautiful city.

Glasgow is great too. Hopefully they will show a little of the city over the next two weeks.

Watched a bit, have to say mist made it look more atmospheric!  ;D Who needs fancy smoke machines when Edinburgh had the real stuff.  ::)

Improved after they got rid of Rhona & John. That was a  truly dreadful & embarrassing Scottish portrayal.

I agree our outfits were awful. They stood out for all the wrong reasons.  Who on earth thought that John Barrowman & Rhona Cameron were the right folk for the task I haven't a Scooby. Bad choice. Would love to have seen & heard the Proclaimers though, think they would have been excellent. Still can't work out if Susan Boyle was singing at the right tempo or the pianist. That was truly cringe worthy.
Oops wrong name Karen Dunbar was with John Barrowman.

Susan Boyle forgot some of her words too.

The stadium looked so empty. I wasn't expecting James Bond but I was hoping for better than we got. They turned it into a charity appeal which I thought was not terribly appropriate.
I wonder how the delegates from some of the countries that were featured felt when their poor were on show. Maybe it was name and shame but it spoiled the whole thing for me.

Hope the games themselves will be better.

TBH the Commonwealth Games ceremonies are never as spectacular. I seem to remember the first one held in Edinburgh, back in 1970 & thinking it was a big disappointment.  As for the appeal, I'm not sure how I feel about that. Initially I thought, "Oh no not again."
