dizziness

Haven't been on the forum for ages mainly because I didn't realise that I was logged in as a guest so couldn't find the new topic button or reply to any posts. I have only just figured out why
Anyway last week I had the most frightening episode of dizziness. It was in the middle of the night, I woke up to do a wee and the room was spinning. It was the same feeling as if I was drunk. I staggered unsteadily to the loo and was so anxious that I couldnt go back to sleep
I sat down and every time I put mu head down the whirlies began again. It passed after a while but it left me exhausted and frightened it would happen again
I thought I was going to expire any minute
I have been fine since but focusing on myself so much that I am making myself light headed
I had a similar brief episode a couple of months ago. I was in the car, turned my head a suddenly went dizzy just for a few seconds
I have looked at some threads and see that it can be a meno symptom.
I drive a lot for work and its making me anxious that I will have a bad bout whilst driving and kill myself and everyone else in my path
Didnt go to the docs as cant go near the blood pressure machine as have white coat syndrome
I suffer from terrible health anxiety, any symptom turns in to the worst possible scenario
Have been talking to colleagues and it seems this kind of anxiety is not uncommon its just that its too embarrassing to admit to.
Finally still flushing like mad and have been for about 5 yrs now - nice

You can buy a BP machine so that you can test every day at the same time.  DH has white coat syndrome but found that testing before eating brekkie worked for him.  Also you may have a trapped nerve in the neck, turning the head suddenly can cause a feeling of dizziness.

Have you had a virus/cold recently, that can leave vertigo symptoms ……………….. horrid, I knew as I opened my eyes before I lifted my head that it was present, usually in the mornings.  It happened one New Year's Eve, the GP refused to come to the house  ::) even though I never drink. I was OK 1 moment, got up from sitting and it started  :-\

BP machines are not too expensive. I got mine off Amazon.

Dizziness is scary. I had labyrinthitis a few years back. First episode, I'd got off bus & was walking to work. I was hanging onto the wall, like a drunk. It was truly scary. Couldn't stand watching TV, especially the ticker tape at bottom of news channels. All that moving.  :P I ended up off work for a while with it. I tried to persevere, but even slight turn of head had me spinning.

I had it too but for me it was a peri-meno symptom! Solved very quickly by adding daily progesterone - any dips in progesterone can cause sever vertigo. The only way to find out if it is bppv, menieres, labyrinthitis or just plain old meno is to see a doctor! It is not a symptom of high bp so don't worry about that (I also have white coat syndrome but check my bp regularly at home!) menieres and labyrinthitis always affect the ear too (per my ent specialist). Bppv can be brought on my moving head in a certain way, but can be helped or fixed by a simple employ manoeuvre. If meno related try adding daily progesterone - it solved mine! I also kept a diary and my dizzyness hit for 2 weeks every single month - like clockwork - that was a also a big clue that it was hormones! Don't panic about it - I know it's horrible - and perhaps limit driving until you know what is causing it! I also used a homeopathic remedy at first sign of it - vertigoheel - it worked pretty well!
