I would tend to agree with honeybun ie the dosage of progestogen has been calculated to oppose ( balance) the amount of oestrogen in the patch, in order to keep the lining thin.
However if you look at the dosage for Evorel sequi - this also contains the same dosage of progestogen as Evorel conti ( ie 170 mcg norethisterone per 24 hours). Often the dosage for conti HRT is lower per day than that for sequi as it is taken every day eg if you look at Femseven - the other patch - the progestogen dose for Femseven sequi is 10 mcg levonorgestrel, and for conti it is 7 mcg.
Since norethisterone (the progestogen in Evorel conti) is a powerful progestogen, I would say that this same dosage for conti as sequi gives more of a leeway in oestrogen dose and some women may well be able to take extra oestrogen and the lining may keep thin.
Nevertheless, even without the extra oestrogen, many women experience some unpredictable bleeding in the first six months of conti HRTs and I would say the extra oestrogen may make this more likely.
I get wind anyway - must be old age
