Why?
« on: May 06, 2014, 05:31:18 AM »

Hi ladies
Does anyone know why progesterone has such a negative effect in terms of mood and side effects, etc?
Did my first month of Utrogestan last month and apart from feeling exhausted I didn't feel to bad, I'm now 3 days into this months cycle and feel jittery, tense, sick and awful already! I am considering vaginal use in the hop that it will minimise some of this feeling.
I just wish I knew why progesterone effects so many of us like this?
Thanks
Shellb

Utrogestan, when I take it for the first night or 2 makes me sleep like a baby, then the jittery part starts and I feel like a caffeine junky for the rest of the time I am on it, not sure why though, I use it vaginally..

Hi Shellb

I've just completed my first month of utrogestan vaginally and to answer your question yes I think it does minimise side effects. This is my fourth hrt regime and definitely the best in terms of least side effects, so I think it's worth trying. Hope this helps x

Thanks Peri
I think I am going to use it vaginally tonight and see how I feel in the morning.
This is my 6th regime in 2yrs so I'm feeling a bit down about the whole thing.

Hello Shellb.
I was so interested to see your post because I have been taking Utrogestan orally for three months and feel the same as you. I have been a bit unwell recently but now I'm wondering if the exhaustion is infact the Utrogestan, plus I've woken up this morning feeling sick. I also recognise the jitters and feeling awful. These horrible feelings last all day but by the late evening I usually start to feel a bit more normal by which time I need to take another tablet and go to bed!
I think I will try to use it vaginally tonight in the hope that I don't feel so bad tomorrow.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Take care.

K.
