Hi Ladies,

Can anyone tell me if the menopause and high blood pressure are connected.

Thanks x

from what I have read they suggest that declining estrogen levels may influence the lining of the blood vessels and contribute to increases in blood pressure.

Hi

Mine was always low even taking the combined pill, post-meno and on HRT and over the last year or so it's been up and down. One 6 monthly reading was back to normal, the next one higher (partly because I was running late and in traffic on the way!) but then the last reading a few weeks ago was high again. Doc doesn't seem too worried at the moment. Said to cut salt which I do because I hate it and salty foods, I try to exercise more and have always watched what I eat so it's a tad frustrating!  So I think there is a link, Doc said sometimes no matter what you do it can be in the genes that it rises as you get older.
