Feeling exhausted!
« on: April 17, 2014, 07:00:15 AM »

Hi Everyone

I have been taking Utrogestan 200mg for a week now, I can feel my mood starting to dip a little and the anxiety is creeping up too! Nothing too bad yet but then I have got another week to go. I was hoping symptoms like this would ease a little with the Utrogestan?
I have noticed that I feel constantly exhausted though, is this normal?

What are your experiences?

Thanks

I can't use utrogestan due to the soya content but I have found that during any progesterone phase I always feel really tired and washed out. It's really annoying!

It is annoying Taz!

As I had an ablation a couple of years ago, I don't think my lining is very thick, speaking hypothetically if I missed a progesterone on day 7 and started to bleed would that keen that I had taken sufficient for that cycle to induce a bleed? Or would I need to continue. With the whole 12 days?

Just thinking of ways do dealing with it really.

Thanks

Not necessarily.
You might bleed, but your lining would still be 'under the effects' of unopposed oestrogen for longer. So yes, you might bleed, but not all of the lining might be shed.

Is it not worth having a chat with your dr about this because if you have had an ablation, then your needs for a progestogen might differ from someone who hasn't.

For what it's worth, my gynae who specialises in menopause is happy for me to take 10 days x 200mgs, but as has been mentioned before here, I am able to access scans privately.

Maybe stick it out for another 5 days and see how you go? Fingers crossed it might not get any worse.

Thanks Sarah
How do you access scans privately? How expensive are they? (Really hope you don't mind me asking).
I will be requesting a scan next time I go to the doctors as I feel I am due. I really don't feel like I need such a huge dose of progesterone though due to the ablation. I really hope I will feel better when I'm post meno as I wouldn't like to think that I would be feeling like this for the rest of my life!!!

Hi

Usually on the NHS they will refer you for a scan within 2 weeks if you have post menopausal bleeding. It's not usually offered 'routinely' unless there are any other issues that need investigating.  The scans I've had - roughly 90% of them- have been covered by private insurance, but there have been times when I've had to pay. Sending you a PM!
