Hi there, I am so glad to have found this forum!

I have been having peri symptoms for around two years now - i'm 47. Over the last couple of months I have never been to the Doctors so much - I've been having night sweats/day flashes, aches and pains, can't sleep digestive problems, massive anxiety, to the extreme where I think I have a life threatening condition, the list goes on and on and on I started on HRT this week so will wait and see what happens. I only got prescribed HRT because I insisted I was referred to a specialist Dr. My own GP made me feel like 'oh god its her again' and that I was a raging hypocondriac and I began to feel like no-one would every listen to me !

My main thing at the moment is digestive, stomach cramps, boughts of diarrhoea after eating - I did read that IBS can come on alongside meno.

I think my husband is really fed up with me, as nearly every day i think i have something different.

X ;)

Hi twinkle1066. Welcome and well done to you for getting what you needed. I know what you mean about husbands - it's hard for them to understand but if I hear one more time, what's wrong with you today, I swear I'm going to scream! Luckily the hrt has sorted my anxiety which was terrible for me, just adjusting doses etc to get to the stage where I feel consistently well. Don't be worried if the first hrt doesn't work completely - it does sometimes take a few tries to get it right...

Hello twinkle1066

 :welcomemm: from me as well!

Sorry to hear about all your meno symptoms and do hope HRT helps you.

Which type have you been prescribed? Have your periods become irregular too?

Some women with digestive problems do find that tablet HRT disagrees with them and makes these problems worse, so in this case a transdermal type might be better. As SuzyQ says you might need to try several before finding the best one for you.

So glad you were able to get referred and a pity your own doc is not clued up to understand what the cause of many of your symptoms!

Hi, I am an IBS sufferer of many years, I have had to completely over haul my diet I have given up all cake, chocolate , biscuits , crisps and bread. It obviously may be the HRT or it may just arrived, dairy can be bad for some people , stress will really aggravate it. If you can bare to eat porridge add, flaxseed to it is that is really helpful. I don't bloat at all since I have cut these things out of my diet, and exercise especially walking is very good for IBS.
