The main road that goes up the West Coast is rarely by pass but a road that meanders through villages and small towns. It now struggles to manage the volume of traffic. Last year there was a fatality due to a huge coal lorry running into a house.
In places just north of me the main road is very narrow and runs right next to the sea. In high tides and stormy weather the sea gates close and that's it. Nothing travels along a fifteen mile stretch. Now a good part of the road is in the sea.
We were promised a bypass years ago that would skirt around the villages and join the M8 near Glasgow.
It's ridiculous. The money has not gone anywhere else, there is just no funding or so we are told.
We are regularly cut off and given this is the main road it's just plain daft.
