In my early 40s I was unable to read for 18 months due to stress over my son's illness. I have always been an avid reader. What finally got me back on track was meeting Nick Hornby who signed a copy of his autobiographical novel - Fever Pitch - which is about his obsessive love of Arsenal football club. We were allowed to choose which of his books we had signed and I went for that one as my husband liked football; I didnt dream I would end up reading it myself. Anyway, for some reason I picked it up, started reading it and couldnt put it down! I dont even like football but the human interest part of the story got to me as I love autobiographies. That's what finally got me back to reading. These days though I am more into Su Doku, though I always have a book on the go but if it's one I cant really get into I find it difficult to persevere. Life's just too short.
