Advice please!
Have been back and forth to GP for past year -had ultrasound to check for fibroids (none found) but apparently there is a small cyst on left ovary.GP said that wouldnt cause the excessive bleeding but forums say otherwise. Then, didnt have period for 9 months (i stupidly thought that was end of periods) but then they are back with a vengence.Have had FIVE bleeds in less than 3 months and feel totally drained.Have 3 busy jobs but am finding it all too much! I have booked aaappointment with a different female GP for tomorrow as first one keeps telling me to have Mirena but big no no as have heard horror stories about it.Any advice welcome please ladies!!!!!

I bled constantly for a very long time before I said enough was enough. I got referred to gynae. I had cysts & fibroids which caused my constant bleeding. Choice was either continue to bleed and be in pain 24/7 or hysterectomy. Hysterectomy was done, though they left ovaries ,only for them to be removed later, due to pain again.
Have you been referred?

Hi lovesflorida
As with so many things (including any HRT) you tend to only hear the horror stories.  If I mentioned I was on HRT there would always be people exclaiming in horror that I would get breast cancer. The Mirena is recommended for many women as it can be ideal.  I ended up with one after trying many HRT pills and found it the best option.  It may be worth giving it a go as it could calm your bleeding down and then if you need to use some oestrogen you don't need to take any extra progesterone.  You also don't need to worry about contraception either, which can be a bonus.
If you don't like it, you can always have it removed - then if your only option is a hysterectomy (which is, after all, a major operation and should only be done as a last resort) at least you've tried all other options. DG x

Thanks
ladies for your replies! I went to see GP today and she said because i didnt bleed for 9 months but am now  bleeding every other week ( im also having pelvic pain daily) she is sending me for blood tests, another ultrasound to check whats going on (incase the cyst has grown or turned nasty) and shes also referring me to gynacologist.
Im bit concerned as she wants me to have scan done asap and thinks it will be done before christmas!

Don't worry too much, she's just being thorough. If something can be done which will ease your problems, so much the better. You don't want to feel rough over the festive period if they can give you something to help.

It's good she's referring you to gynae. They are the ones who should be able to get to the bottom of your suffering. Try & keep your chin up. Think happy thoughts!  :foryou:

cubagirl is absolutely right.  Getting a referral is the best thing.  You'll hopefully have peace of mind very soon and some good advice about he best easy forward from the specialist.  Keep us posted. Good luck  DG xx
