Help
« on: December 12, 2013, 02:59:27 PM »

Please I am at the end of my tether,  I know I seem like a broken record but things are not getting better and it has been a nearly a year since my total op, I am on Climival since day one, on Omperazole 40mg and Domperidone for bad nausea, I was on Prozac but have been off it for about 2 months,  my stomach isnt getting better, the sickness is not going, GP has referred me to a stomach specialist cause by now my stomach should of healed enough to be on a low dose Omperazole but it isnt, also the last week the headaches are bad , my head feels heavy and my neck also hurts and I feel so sad I just want to cry and sleep all the time . I have had to use Vagifem again everyday and on Sat I  be trying a double dose and then every 3rd night as one of you nice ladies suggested to see if that helps for that side of things and you all say it wouldnt be the Vagifem causing the headaches.  The hrt helps with most of the menopause symptoms but I thought it would help with the depression side of things but clearly it isnt, my GP doesnt think a transdermal HRT will be make any difference but do any of you think a change in HRT would help with both depression and the stomach issues.  Sorry to be always moaning on here but I need help  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You moan away!  Symptoms can become all encompassing

HRT can cause nausea.  Certainly when I took Tamoxifen it took away my appetite, I could smell things acutely and generally made me feel miserable.  Maybe a change of HRT?

Hi I do think a change in HRT will help , I am going to contact my GP cause I feel so ill and miserable, has anyone any ideas on what transdermal HRT to try, but I suppose we are all different and react differently. I thought the Gel sounds good,  I tried the patches I for a short time but the GP told me to that the oral will have not effect to the stomach and so I went back on Climaval and I think it has to be them as its the only thing that I have continuously been on since day one,  I want to feel NORMAL again, I still have a young family and it isnt fair on them. I do appreciated anyone's help   :) :) xx

I think a patch or gel HRT will help tremendously moonbeam. Quite a few women have nausea from tablet HRT because it has to be metabolised by the liver.

As for the headaches. You say your neck hurts too so it could be that your headaches are not related at all to HRT but more to a neck problem. We can have wear and tear in the neck as we get older and this shows itself up as head or shoulder pain - quite often with no pain in the neck at all. I suggest that you ask your doc about this and see if you can be referred for a course of physio. Have you ever had whiplash?

Hi my mum thinks the headaches are down to stress, and believes that once my nausea eases and my stomach issues eases I will be bit better, I am convinced it is the oral HRT that is causing  stomach the problems, as the only thing  I now take orally is the Omperazole and domeridone , it is worth changing the HRT, but as for the depression do anyone think changing them will help that as well.  I could do with something to take to the GP to show her that the oral HRT can affect the stomach cause she hasnt got a clue xxx

I was told to take it within the hour of eating my main meals.  The idea was to ease the gut spasms and the drug pushes food through quickly  ;) - I think I had 10 mg each time

I take 2 pills but cause I am constantly nauseous I just take it whenever , I should try and take them properly, I will take them a  little after my Omperazole which I take the minute I wake up. Do i need to take them before eating and how long before cause I eat small meals little and often x

Try taking your omeprazole just before bed. Your stomach produces a lot of acid overnight.
I have stomach problems and because of that my GP never even suggested pills. I still had a tiny bit of nausea when I started my patches but it passed very quickly.
You need to space your domperidone equally throughout the day.
When my stomach is bad I try to have a small plate of porridge in the morning. It's very soothing and lines your stomach.

It might be worth an email to dr currie on this site, with regards to HRT, you can then take her advice to your GP

Thanks for that advice I wish I had a GP like yours, I am going to try and get GP to see me on Monday cause I need this sorting, I think this is causing my headaches the stress and maybe trying a different HRT will help with the dip in  my moods .  So you think taking my Omeprazole at night will help, its worth a try, thanks for your reply it helps alot xx
