I wear the thick woolly tights, they dont itch, love them and live in them all winter and have fleeces that I put against my body so soft and warm and then another long sleeve top over that and my sweater, snug as toast.

link please Hurdity ........ I know that Wiggly Wigglers used to sell goat wool socks and there are lots of companies across the UK that make them, the rear the goats, selling the products for allergy sufferers World wide. Also, walking shops for 'layering' fabrics is a good start, it is important to keep the bum and thighs warm too!

Went to buy some trousers today ……… however: Per Una are too short and the size 10 too large around my waist
and the other makes in various shops are too long or 'jeans' type material whereas I am looking for something more dressy. <sigh> ……..

I have to buy an 8 in Per Una as their sizes are always huge but I have to take them up - even the short are around three inches too long.

This was a size 10 - too big round the waist and too short

What I mean is if you are usually a size 10 then you definitely need an 8 or a 6 in Per Una.

I am a size 10 in Next trousers and a size 8 in Per Una and M&Co.
It's really difficult and at 5ft 1 I usually need to cut a load off them.
Have you tried Top Shop. They are very "young" but do nice trousers.

Might be the right time for offers on merino wool thermals? Nothing is as brilliant and they don't stink so you can wear them regularly, plus when you do wash them, they dry quickly.
I have one Icebreaker long sleeved T which is incredible. They also do leggings. I don't get cold legs but my feet are like ice bear paws and no socks on earth can warm them.

I have lots of types of merino-type long sleeved tops for layering
I couldn't find a size 8
but the length was too short anyway
