What do you wear
« on: November 19, 2013, 03:36:57 PM »

Under your trousers to keep your legs warm.

I am constantly cold at the moment. I have not worn tights under trousers for years as they make me itch but I need to do something to warm up.

Any recommendations of what will keep me warm but not make me itch like crazy.

HB I just wear my Jeans or leggings. Long skirts are in fashion again, the last time round I use to wear leggings under a long wool skirt with a long jumper and boots.

Have you seen thus lovely site for ideas  http://www.celticandco.co.uk/ladies/ I know they are very expensive but I still like looking to get ideas.

I like to wear knee high socks which I wear with ankle boots - Marks and spencer usually do good ones.

Also, the fashion at the moment is to wear long jumpers or jumper dresses. These look great over straight leg trousers or leggings and help to keep the top of your legs warm.
Here is a link to an example:  http://www.marksandspencer.com/Collection-Cable-Knit-Flecked-Dress/dp/B00EFKWH2U?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_89&nodeId=43078030&sr=1-89&qid=1384877276
When it's really cold I wear footless leggings under my trousers - I tend to wear my trousers one size too big so they don't aggravate my burning fanny and this allows room for the extra layers if needed.  DG x

Long socks to the knees.  Slippers.  NEVER boots as these make the whole of my legs cold ...... even though I love some of the designs.  Wellies or walking boots outdoors.  If really cold I pull on walking outter leggings which are waterproof and windproof.  Really sexy  ;)

Long stripey socks under jeans.
Or - Wooly tights with longish denim skirt - very cosy.

Honeybun - I'm not sure whether you mean at home or out as this is likely to be different (for me anyway)

Funny enough my husband was telling me I should wear long-johns this morning - as soon as it's cold he wears them under his jeans until about April - but he's outside a lot!!! Not a garment I would wear! They are just like leggings though, just a bit looser.

Indoors I just wear jeans of different colours and types (the stretchy fitted kind) but always with something long over it - tunic things or long jumpers and when cold I put on a lovely thick cardigan - I have several of these. Have a thick mohair one on atm that I bought from a festival. On my feet I wear those slipper boots which keep me really toasty!

Outside I put on some knee-length boots, and I'm fine.

When it gets really cold - which I expect it will at some point, I try to fit a pair of leggings under the jeans - but these might make you itch? Also thicker socks!!

I think if you wear lots of warm layers on the top as well your legs won't feel the cold.

I wear thermal leggings under trousers quite a lot and they're lovely and warm. I also have a couple of pairs of thick wool tights which cost about £10 a pair but last a couple of winters.  I believe the ones I have at the moment are either Wolsey or Charnos.  They are so warm and textured so they look nice with skirts, tunics etc too.  I have grey, brown and black ones.

Tights under jeans would cause my legs to itch  >:(

Anyone remember the Long Johns Grandad used to wear  :-\ ........ there was probably a reason for those!

I think it will have to be long socks. I am fine in the house with fluffy socks and slipper boots (sexy), it's when I go out that my legs are freezing. If I wear tights then I itch like mad.

I never used to feel the cold even before meno. I think it could have something to do with my beta blocker. It's a side effect although I only take one a day.

If I could wear wool socks I would, used to years ago and woolen tights. I just stick to normal knee length socks, mainly supermarket brand and it works a treat. Hope it works for you HB.

CLKD - I was going to post about these socks! I thought they would be very scratchy but I bought some from a local farm that specialises in them - mohair from organic angora goats - and they are toasty and I don't find them itchy at all. They supply by mail order so if anyone wants the link please pm me.
