Out of Sync bleeding...
« on: July 08, 2013, 05:50:52 PM »

Hi everyone,

I've been on Fem7 sequi for quite a few months and my periods started up again ( after a 7month no show pre hrt and for the first couple of months or so at the start of hrt) as regular as clockwork at the end of the phase 2 patch.
Over the last 3 months or so though they have started a day after the application of the second phase patch - it's a normal bleed ( not heavy lasting four/five days), not painful and no further bleeding/ spotting at the end of the phase 2 patch.
I wondered if my own hormones have now kicked in again...and if I should try and stop the patches now?? I've had no side effects from the HRT and feel fine. Just for info - My last smear this year was normal and a scan showed no problems except 1 small fibroid. I'm not sure whether to try without HRT or what the cause might be.

Thanks,  Jo  :)

Perhaps speak with your prescribing practitioner?

I'm not sure why you want to stop HRT Jojo, if you are feeling fine otherwise? Your oestrogen levels will almost certainly be on the decline so replacing it can only be of benefit long term.

It may well be that your cycle has started again but you are very unlikely to have too much oestrogen because the Femseven cannot provide levels anywhere near the sort of values you would expect at ovulation normally.

I agree maybe speak to your GP or specialist regarding whether to try to alter the timing of the patch to coincide with what seems like a new cycle. The downside is your cycle will probably alter again so no sooner than you adjust it, it may well go out of sync again!

Thanks for replies, CLKD and Hurdity,

I remembered that I had a similar episode in my thirties when my periods stopped for a few months and then started up again and everything went back to normal for a long time. I thought that maybe this could happen again now....a bit of wishful, wistful, nostalgic thinking...
Of course, I'm older now and didn't, back then, have anywhere near the the level of peri symptoms I had this time round. So, yes Hurdity, when I think about it rationally, it makes sense to continue as I feel great! Maybe I was lulled into a bit of HRT-induced false security...!! lol :)

I'll see how things go and speak to my GP if it continues. Apart from the out of sync bleeding, I feel fab! But even the out of sync bleeding is pretty much regular anyway.

On the HRT front, it makes complete sense to stick with it as all my peri symptoms have gone and I've found I can even tolerate a bit more sun/heat than before I started HRT which is a great bonus with all the sunshine here at the mo. I've just completed my first postgraduate year back at University and was able to think straight and clear enough to pass with Distinction!! So, all-in-all, life is grand  :)

Love, Jo
