I am having a very light period. Is this normal?
« on: July 07, 2013, 03:10:09 PM »

I have been having a very light period since last Thursday.  Sometimes a period starts lightly for a few days and then moves onto my ordinary heavy period for another few days.  This time that hasn't happened.  There is no blood in the loo, just a light amount on my pad.  There was a piece of blood in the loo a while ago, but not liquid. I use a Persona machine to work out the middle of the month to avoid pregnancy.  I guess tomorrow morning will be day 4.  I will set the machine for day 4.  Never had a period this light.   It started on day 34. Will this period go on for longer as it is lighter? :(
Has anyone else been experiencing much lighter periods?  Do I expect a heavy period next time and a lot sooner than my normal 5 week gap between periods?  I cannot be pregnant - sadly, no sex! :o

Yes it's normal Sandy. Hormonal fluctuations at this time of our life can mean that not enough womb lining has built up to be shed. It doesn't necessarily mean that you will have a heavier one next time. It's a case of wait and see. The light period may go on for sometime or stop suddenly - it again depends on which hormones are being switched on and off  - that's how I picture it anyway!

I have always had very light periods, if anything, the menopause has made my heavier!  So strange how everyone;s different isn't it?
