Ok ladies well as you remember I have aches n pains all over etc didn't want a blood test but went to dr anyway as ppl told me they don't ask for blood tests for menopause. I hate going to drs anyway, always think the worst....so as I got there the dr had 2 male students in.....oh joy....and it was a student asking me questions. Told them briefly the symptoms when the dr said she had NEVER heard of aching joints with the menopause
......so now my worst fears have become reality and I have to have a blood test tomorrow.....all Im gonna do is stress until I get results, Im already fearing the worst
wish I hadn't gone now

Well lots of menopausal women get aches and pains in their joints but whether that is directly linked to the menopause or is purely down to age I've never been sure. Mine are down to arthritis. What is a blood test supposed to identify in the way of aches and pains out of interest?

Hi check out the July issue of women and home. There is an article on peri menopause symptoms no 4 is on achy joints. It is dr currie writing. You could take the article along for your gp to read.
Best wishes

I think rheumatoid arthritis is one of the things that will show up in the blood test.

I think the blood test will check for inflammation. The aches and pains which accompany menopause for some women don't show up as an inflammatory illness whereas things like rheumatoid arthritis and PMR do. It will probably be to rule out other things. You can also get aches and pains with thyroid disease.

My gynae consultant suggested increasing my HRT again to deal with aches & pains. However, I've decided against this for the meantime as I don't really want to go down that route again.
Hope you get something sorted with your aches Lizeee!
