I find my phone handy when I don't have access to my laptop.
The laptop is much much easier to use, but at least it's possible to keep in touch when away from home.

A point in favour of the phone or possibly the underlying android system - some of the weather sites I use online have apps which are actually better than accessing on a laptop.

I use google maps on my phone when we are going somewhere we don't know. I can also check emails, weather, news etc when we are on holiday.

We have a largeish laptop as our main computer.
I have an iPad which I love, but my mum (aged 85) had an iPad mini for Christmas and I think that's better. (Mine is bulky and heavy in comparison). She uses FaceTime to chat to grandchildren and greatgc.
My OH has a Nexus7 which is great, amazing picture quality.
I also have a kindle with a lit screen- great for reading in bed if OH is asleep. I can look at kindle on my iPad, but don't because it's not as easy to hold. That'd be better on a 7inch tablet.

There's just too much choice- it's baffling!

I'm just worried I'll get addicted and never be off it!! I am quite relieved when I go out and have only got my old phone with me which doesn't do internet but then I sit in the pub and most others are constantly checking phones to get their latest email, fb or twitter messages. It's like we always have to be on call somehow and are never just in the moment.

I understand how great it can be though if you have to go out and are waiting for news of someone or something or if you get lost or if you want to have a look for the nearest specialist shop or restaurant etc.
