Stress & menopause

Does anyone wonder why they feel much worse sometimes & not others. I started going through the menopause 12 years ago & then had a full hysterectomy 10 years ago. I have tried every HRT combination going & it’s never really done much good. But throughout that time there is one thing I’ve learned & that is STRESS can make everything a lot lot worse. When I look back on all those years the times I have felt particularly bad have been after very stressful events. 2 weeks ago I had 3 major stresses happen all in one week plus the ongoing COVID. This has literally floored me for about a week. The reason we feel a whole lot worse during stressful events is because our oestrogen lowers with stress. So the oestrogen only HRT I take I can just about manage on normal days but add in the stresses & the HRT goes to help our bodies in other ways first & when it has done that there isn’t any left over to help with the menopausal problems we get. The only thing we can do is to try & do things to de stress every day so that hopefully our bodies can deal with stresses better & not use our valuable HRT or what little natural hormones we’ve got up

Yes, during and post menopause what oestrogen there is moves from the ovaries to the adrenal glands. Say no more!

I have learned something new today. This site is an education. Had no idea stress affected oestrogen.
Maybe that's why I have fewer menopause issues when on ADs - because stress levels are lower, thus conserving the little bit of oestrogen I have left?

So when, like me, you've had a surgical menopause does this still apply? I really feel like I don't have a clue - I have been a very stressy person since my operation 6 years ago, does this mean hormones can still be up and down?
