Stomach - stabbing pain

<< < (3/5) > >>

CrispyChick:
Thanks.

It's not burning just now. Just dire and very tight feeling. I'll look up the diaphragm. Not thought of that.

I've just tried Rennies. No diff.

It is constant. Like 24 hours.

I've just lain down and the sore bits feel pulled to the side with me lying on my side.

It's bad enough trying to deal with my hormones, without this on top. 😭

Penguin:
Perhaps it is as simple as ibs then, as I've been reading that that can cause both reflux and gas.

Hormones have a lot to answer for. Both E and P can cause a relaxation of the esophageal sphincter which can cause reflux and indigestion. So can taking hrt.

Something suggested to me too for the left side abdo pain when other things had been excluded was visceral hypersensitivity, where the discomfort you feel is excess to the cause, if that makes sense. So you may be very intolerant to any stretching or movement of food through the stomach / intestines. Have a look at that. They recommend things like amitriptyline to desensitise but that wasn't something I pursued.

CrispyChick:
I think you're right penguin. We've had this conversation before about visceral hypersensitivity. Not even sure if it was in relation to my stomach, or not.

I'm too scared to change antidepressants. That's the prob. And when I tried to increase escit twice last month - both times it triggered more extreme stomach pain.

I'm not sure I'm strong enough. 😞

Hi I suffered with this for a long time had lots of tests was told IBS reflux problems
have tryed  some medications vitamins nothing helped untill I tryed gluten free and lactose free diet by myself over a manner of months I've seen a 90% change I used to get the pain Wen I slept like it was literally dragging my left side down I no longer get this now no more trapped wind or reflux I've had to cut my I take of certain vegetables out and I avoid dairy if I want something naughty 🤭 like a cake I go vegan  it's helped tonnes maybe try it you don't have to be drastic at first to see the difference but it's been a life changer for me hope this helps 🤗

Gastritis would show on an endoscopy exam. Mine did and they would prescribe omeprazole or equivalent to let it heal. You can get gas trapped anywhere in your digestive system.   I have IBS. My gastric consultant told me that your digestive system is one long pipe so IBS isnt a very accurate term to use, you can have an irritable digestive system. I get stuff everywhere, Ive had every different sensation, pain and ache going, even feeling I couldnt swallow as my oesophagus had gone into spasm as your colon can.  It comes in bouts and can take a while to settle down. Stress plays a big part. My GP told me it's known that people who have this condition are hypersensitive to sensations in their digestive system because they are anxious about it, they notice everything that other people wouldnt.
