Yes that's the one, GLA! No I don't remember seeing any studies, it was just hypothesised that it may work by blocking oestrogen receptors.

Perhaps it's more for peri use when oestrogen is still high and overstimulating breast tissue? She was really pleased though as had had the problem for a few years.

I tried taking the Boots combined EPA and Starflower (in case it further lowered my oestrogen) and, like when I tried other fatty acid herbs, I got terrible gas pains so had to stop. However, when researching about the gas I did then come across a study on it antagonising oestrogen receptors in the breast tissue here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/15027132/
